FAQs

I'm not sporty, is sports massage for me?

Yes! We see lots of people who aren't very sporty, but are still struggling with the discomfort caused by desk jobs/physical jobs/looking after kids and general life! Its not just sports that lead to dysfunction and injury, so don't be put off!

I've heard Remedial Massage can be painful, will it hurt?

The focus of the treatment is rehabilitation rather than relaxation, and while we don't believe in the 'no pain no gain' mentality, at times it can be uncomfortable if there are areas of tension. However, we will always work within the boundaries set by the client, adjusting pressure accordingly.

What should I wear?

Treatment is most effective on skin, as the massage techniques glide much better and are more fluid. We always work with your dignity in mind, and use towels to cover the body. Only the areas being worked on need to be accessible, so there is no need to get fully undressed! Please wear sensible underwear (Ladies, a normal bra fastening is better than a sports bra. Guys, no baggy boxers please!) Please keep in mind that you may have some lotion residue on your skin at the end of the treatment, which could mark delicate fabrics. If you are more comfortable keeping layers on, we can work over clothes with adapted techniques. Please just let us know - its not a problem!

How will I feel afterwards?

Massage can leave you feeling sleepy, relaxed, thirsty and (in some cases) needing to urinate more frequently than usual, as your body is trying to disperse the toxins released into your blood stream. Your muscles could also feel tender the next day. You are strongly advised to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and caffeinated drinks, and instead drink plenty of water, and rest to allow your body to settle post-treatment.

I've been feeling unwell/have existing medical conditions- can I be treated?
